MUHAMMADU BUHARI.........................................WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

Posted: Updated:

Let us begin today's sermon with a parable. A hunter was told about a massive hole. Inside which live a very big animal. Prepared with all the paraphernalia of the trade, the hunter took it as a task to conquer the massive beast. So he began to dig. Few minutes into digging, a rat ran out of the hole. Astonished, the hunter pondered for some seconds. He continued to dig, determined he would get to the animal. He would make his kill and prove himself the greatest hunter alive. Almost an hour into digging, a grass-cutter ran out of the hole. Amazed. At this time the hunter sat and pondered for a while. What manner of big animal would reside in hole, sit idle by and would allow the rat to escape without eating it. Then let the grass-cutter escape the same way without devouring it. Such an animal, if ever there was one down the hole, is not worth the trouble of going after. The pessimistic scenario is a cautionary tale to illuminate a troubling regime. Fellow Nigerians, we have seen the very best of the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan regime. It will be a catastrophe for us to see the rest of it. In the face of the impasse that the administration has become, there are no answers, just riddles. Under this regime, we have witnessed the ascendancy of naked self interest and self aggrandizement. This administration is detached and not familiar with Nigeria and its myriad of problems. Such that has weakened our culture and values, including the rule of law. So CHANGE come 2015,should be inevitable not an abomination. It will make a difference for us as a nation in all ramifications. A tectonic shift that will be huge milestone. When the President came to condole Pastor T.B. Joshua, on the calamity that came upon his church. The building collapse and the subsequent loss of lives. GEJ did not come to see the miracles and wonders of the controversial Pastor. He came to play politics by consolidating his christian political base.Soon and indeed very soon, RELIGION will become POLITICS, as the 2015 elections draws near. Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, President of CAN is a minister of Christian Affairs under the Goodluck regime. Pastor E. A. Adeboye, who has more christian followers than Jesus Christ had when he walked on water, has the president's ear. These religious leaders will grab the pulpit to remind Southern Christians, that Muhammadu Buhari is not just from the North. Hell, HE IS A MUSLIM!! They will want us to believe that President GEJ is a safe "christian bet". Despite a growing body of evidence to the contrary. Nigerians are trepidatious of an Islamic State. The pastors will feed on that paranoia. They will sell the jittery of having a MUSLIM President. Like we never had one before in the history of our nation. Our "jet age" pastors will stir up the angst. They will not tell their base the fundamental truth, of a president that has turned into a ridiculous caricature. In whom we see the logic of a University professor and not the passion of a leader. A misgovernace that overseas a kleptomatic network. The gospel around town is with religion being the opium of the masses. Our religious leaders are smiling to the bank ala tithes and offerings. They are as a result willing to suppress exculpatory evidence of massive corruption led by the President and his men. They seem oblivious to the untold sufferings in the land. A society ruled by greed, and crippling corruption. The greatest problem is not with these pastors, but rather with larger numbers of ( educated) Christians, who look up to them and not Jesus Christ. They unquestioningly would support a good for nothing president just because he is a Christian.. FELLOW NIGERIANS, religion allows us to overestimate the supernatural forces in our society and underestimate what we want most: decent and just governance. Without the latter, there will be no Heaven for any of us. A Yoruba adage goes thus: we cannot because we have disdain for the head put the cap on the belly botton. Muhammadu Buhari, will make a better president than Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. End of story! As a matter of fact, ANYBODY will. Buhari, by the way has many sins. But let who is without sin cast the first stone. The Buhari/ Idiagbon regime was harsh. They set up tribunals and started WAI. Although the harsh sentences and nature of the tribunals were criticized, it is arguable that Nigeria needed these Nuremberg style trials in order to free itself from its corrupt past. The era of Buhari and Idiagbon was the first, and only time that Nigerian public officials were tried, and held accountable for their actions in office. So Buhari's sin should not be because he is a Muslim. Or because he calls GOD, ALLAH. He should be judged on the content of his character. In him, we see the unapeaseable hunger to rule Nigeria. Nothing slows him or stops him. Goodluck, had no real political disappointment on his way to Aso Rock. Buhari, has suffered the humiliations of defeat; three times. Scars like that do a politician good. They prove that he loves the people and the country enough to keep going and has the grit for it. We need a man who has the willing desire and appetite to do the job. Buhari is a reminder of an epoch more economically better than the current president. Goodluck, let us face it does not have the passion of a leader. Always craving distance from the stink and muck of politics. We can all see the undeniable failure of his Presidency. Routinely he has averted his gaze from massive corruption. From the wrath of the blood thirsty caliphate Boko Haram. A president that does not want to get dirty and not wanting to break too much sweat- ruling Nigeria. Buhari, has a healthy ego that reflects confidence. Putting religion into the mix, will put us on a continuous drift, unable to address effectively any of our biggest challenges or opportunities. A Buhari Presidency will not split the country. It will make a difference. A way for us to go backward in order to move the nation forward. We should be under no illusions about the difficult road ahead. Nigeria is on the cross, on one side is a belligerent sinner who has seen the light and is repentant. On the other hand is another sinner that just has no clue. WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? A n'agwa nt? ma nt? an?ghi, egburu isi nt? esoro. If the ear refuses to heed warning, when the head is cut off, the ear goes with it.
