PEARLS BEFORE SWINE......A SCOUNDREL CALLED FEMI FANI-KAYODE. JAIYEOLA AJASA

"Much ado has been made about recent events in South Africa concerning the Nigerian-owned jet that was found loaded with millions of dollars and that was in the process of procuring arms and a fighter helicopter for the Nigerian military and security agencies. As a former Minister of Aviation, I wish to assure the general public that the flying of large sums of cash by security and intelligence agencies for the purchase of arms in a time of war and conflict is something that is quite normal and it happens quite often. As a matter of fact, it has happened under successive Nigerian governments, both military and civilian." FEMI FANI-KAYODE. A classic case of the Devil- playing Devil's advocate. The fear of God. Integrity. These are not virtues you need to put in your quiver to be a successful Nigerian politician. To crystallize my point, I present to you: FEMI FANIKAYODE. He comes from a prominent political and legal family in Nigeria. His great grandfather, the Rev. Emmanuel Adedapo Kayode, was one of the earliest Nigerians to be educated in England. He obtained an MA from the University of Durham, after which he became an Anglican priest. His grandfather, Victor Adedapo Kayode, studied law at Cambridge University and later became a lawyer and a judge. His father Victor Babaremilekun Adetokunboh Fani-Kayode, who was also at Cambridge was a prominent lawyer and political figure in Nigeria in the 1950s and 1960s: he was Leader of the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons Opposition in the Western House of Assembly from 1960 to 1963,. He was the Hon. Minister of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Deputy Premier of the Western Region of Nigeria from 1963 until 1966 and he successfully moved the motion for Nigeria's independence in 1958 in the Nigerian Parliament. But with an enviable pedigree and a glittering education background, Femi Fani-Kayode is a troubled soul because of his drug problem. He is the boy next door your mama warned you about. When Lola Fani-Kayode ( Femi's cousin), made the television story MIND BENDING, about drug use among teenagers and its effects on their family and society : It was a story about FEMI FANI-KAYODE. But the open secret about his habit did in no way affect Femi Fani-Kayode's political career. Being among people with moral turpitude his profile grew. He was a member of the Nigerian National Congress (NNC) in 1989. He was elected the national youth leader of NNC that same year. In 1990, he was appointed as Chief Press Secretary to Chief Tom Ikimi, the first national chairman of the National Republican Convention (NRC) and in 1991 as Special Assistant to Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi, former head of the Nigerian Security Organisation (NSO). Under this new dispensation, he became one of President Olusegun Obasanjo's boys. He was appointed by the then President as a member of his presidential campaign team for the 2003 presidential election. After President Obasanjo won that election,Femi Fani-Kayode was appointed as the first ever Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In 2006 he was appointed as the Honourable Minister of Culture and Tourism. That same year, after a minor cabinet reshuffle, he was redeployed to the Aviation Ministry as the Honourable Minister of Aviation. In June 2007 he was reported to have had an affair with one of his former aides, Miss Chioma Anasoh who was arrested by Nigerian customs agents on suspicion of attempting to illegally launder US$240,000 via Abuja airport. Fani-Kayode allegedly arrived at the scene and facilitated her release. The Senate Committee on Aviation in early 2008, investigating the allegations of misappropiation of the same Aviation Intervention Fund recommended that Fani-Kayode be banned from holding public office for five years. He was again arrested on December 2008 by the EFCC and was charged with 47 counts of money laundering. These charges had nothing to do with the Aviation Intervention Fund but rather with some lodgements in his private bank account. Describing the Igbos, an ethnic group in Nigeria of more than 40 million people as "collectively unlettered, uncouth, uncultured, unrestrained and crude in all their ways". Femi Fani-Kayode became a star of the APC. On leaving PDP he wrote " I have just publicly and formally declared for the APC ...... for me this is a great and historic day. Goodbye forever PDP.” Months later he would write :' I wish to inform the general public that as at today, 2nd June 2014, I have left the APC and gone back to the PDP. I wish the APC well in all their endeavors but as at today we have parted ways forever and my spirit has left them. My reasons for leaving the party are because I consider nation-building as being far more important than party politics, party affiliation or party formations. I am a devout and committed christian and I cannot remain in a party where a handful of people that have sympathies for Boko Haram and that have a clear islamic agenda are playing a leading role." A political terrain that blatantly parades brain boxes in the art of crookedness, the Nigerian politician today has turned Nigeria into a nation where its citizens fight from womb to tomb. It hurts to see a nation so touted to be the heaven of all manner of potentials suffer in the hands of elect few who refer to themselves as politicians and leaders. The pathetic saga of Femi Fani Kayode in Nigerian politics, is not a exemption but a norm among a class of people that stand for nothing and would fall for anything. He is a product of Nigeria’s dysfunctional political system. Where people move up the leadership ladder on the basis of mundane considerations like who your political godfather is, not the content and quality of your character. Fellow Nigerians here is your brain on drugs : “I was not a tribalist when I had a long-standing and intimate relationship with Miss Bianca Onoh, an Igbo lady, who later married Colonel Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu the leader of Biafra and who is now our Ambassador in Spain. I was not a tribalist when I had a long-standing and intimate relationship with Miss Chioma Anasoh, another igbo lady, who I almost married. I was not a tribalist when I had a long-standing and intimate relationship with Miss Adaobi Uchegbu, another Igbo lady, who was exceptionally close to me and who is now a leading figure at the National Headquarters of the ruling PDP”...... I REST MY CASE.... Ahap? otele ny?r? ah?, av?? isi ?kp? The anus that farted is left alone but the head receives the knock..IGBO PROVERB..
