LETTER TO Ola Olukanni...........THE BEAUTYFUL ONES ARE NOT APC.

Posted: Updated:

The Wolf is at the door, so let me afflict the comfortable. The Laolu Fashuyis, the Evbo-Abel Ogoigbe, the Tunde Oyekunle Oyeleke .Despite a lame economy, BOKO HARAM, THE MISSING GIRLS and widespread public disappointment with his performance, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will be back in Aso Rock, for four more years. Nigerian politics is not a game of Chess for intellectuals. It is a simple game of checkers. PDP, understands that the upcoming elections is not between pragmatism and ideology. Nor is it between rationality or irrationality.Or is it a matter of who is more empathetic toward people and more patriotic. It is not the case of hard headed assessment of who will make the country better. The calculus of our kindergarten pathetic democracy, is that more money will defeat more people every time. Without feeling a slight prick of conscience, GEJ and his team is suffuse with grim pride over their willingness to whatever it takes to get back to Aso Rock. Here in Nigeria, politicians do not campaign for the hearts and minds of the electorate. They put money inside bread and with bags of rice- they buy it! So writing off PDP as purely atavistic,is a good way to misunderstand the problem they presents and to miss the Nigerian character that they exploit and appeal to. What the world see as humongous problems are peccadilloes to the Nigerian electorate. So four more years Mr President and FIFTY more years for PDP. Despite perpetuating various comforting fallacies, APC believes it is the light at the end of the tunnel of our political darkness (sic). That PDP is the poor milquetoast party who is antique and out of touch with the people. A Yoruba adage goes thus : who ever promise to give you a beautiful garment, you need to take a keen look at the garment he has on. APC is a party in disarray. One word : RIBADU. It speaks volume when a former Presidential candidate will decamp to the rival party. Next example is Lagos State, that the party controls. The richest State in the nation. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his goons have turned the State into a conglomerate. The people of the state have been anesthetized into submission or indifference, as the state is being ravaged by corruption. Ditto for Ogun State, Oyo State and Ekiti State, which the party just lost. For an opposition anywhere in the world to be relevant, it has to be reactionary. APC's truculence is not fueled by fury. Fundamental political change is not something the party as constituted would necessary wish to hasten, or be seen hastening. Once in power, they would be busy covering their corrupt tracts. At this crucial time in our history, gradualism will not be the same as inertia. There is no smoldering resentment towards PDP and the fig leaf administration of good -for-nothing Goodluck Jonathan. The party has not presented a way out of the pogrom caused by the blood thirsty caliphate called Boko Haram, chattel slavery, totalitarianism and heinous corruption that has become a Nigerian culture. If you are hammer, everything becomes nail. It is nothing short of absurd to think that people who themselves are part of the problem can solve our myriad of problems. APC is a guilty pleasure that does nothing but insult our intelligence. When JAIYEOLA STREET called for a coup, many called me a lunatic. Let us face it, our democracy has become a curse. There is absolutely no hope in the two prominent political parties that out future is unfortunately tethered to. The country is on the verge of fracturing because of a democracy that has become a destructive polarization of the very people it should bring together. So throwing the baby and the dirty bath water away, will be just the sensible action to take. Nigeria, is in dire need of revolutionaries not reformers. What we need is a democracy- a party, that is more reflective of the Nigerian people as a whole. Not the narrow economic and social demographics of the few. "Two legs good, four legs better" is a slogan we are tired of listening to. The oxygen of a good country is good leadership. Nigeria is not well run. We need to let the world know that under the ugly skin of APC and PDP is a well educated ,well traveled and comprehensively wired people. We need to get back to the time where the many and not the few were winning. Get back on track with prudence, realism and savoir faire. Arise o' compatriots.................. THIS ONE FOR YOU Dele Ajaja......ONE FOR THE ROAD. On every front there are clear answers out there that can make this country stronger, but we're going to break through the fear and the frustration people are feeling. Our job is to make sure that even as we make progress, that we are also giving people a sense of hope and vision for the future. Barack Obama — with Bayo Oyekan and 19 others.
