The Spirit Is Still There...(but barely!) by Odolaye Aremu

The Spirit Is Still There...(but barely!) What a day today! As shrapnels and wreckages rained death down on simple folks, and innocent bystanders at Nyanya, like hot lavas from the pits of hell itself. The Spirit of A Nation woefully battered, manages to silently tick along. As the wily bombers, and those covered behind the veils of terror: ran to hide, or jumped about, simply to glorify in the success of the horrors they caused and in their dastardly acts. The good citizens, with hope strong in their hearts; shoulders held high, heads bowed low, and kindness in their blood, all came out. They filed out in good numbers to rescue the wounded; piled up the bodies of the dead; to give juices to lifelines already depleted, and to grieve with those, who are bereaved. What a better way to tell the Wicked, that's he's lost his onerous quest to dominate the Will of a people. If all he has the power to take away, was our already doomed body. What a better way to flaunt the energy of a Nation, right in the faces of nasty Bastards. That ours's the Spirit that won't quench, the Will that cannot be defeated, The Phoenix that shall once again rise, and take to the Glorious Sky! ***Out of nothing for me to say, coming from a mind that's already blank, I have chosen to speak hope unto myself and unto the battered Spirit of my nation. For the ones behind the evil deed(s), I have nothing to think of you, nothing to say of you, or about you, nor even a thing to say to you*** Dedicated to the many Souls of those Citizens that perished in the senseless terror bombing at Nyanya, Abuja. May The Departed Souls Of The Victims, Rest In Peace*** Image courtesy of SamuelKee.com — at Nyanya Abuja.
